Since 2018, Anna Bogouchevskaia has increasingly focused her sculpture on natural phenomena, such as the element of water in its various aggregate states and manifestations. Her current body of work, inspired by the French documentary film "Microcosmos" (1996), features aluminum sculptures of macroscopically enlarged water droplets and their effect on a water surface.
With these words, the 1996 French documentary "Microcosmos - Le peuple de l'herbe" begins, taking the viewer into a space and time that are below human perception and beyond its categories. We follow the small creatures of this world, beetles, caterpillars and bees, like protagonists caught up in the dramatic processes and sequences of their survival.
